Historical Summer Camps Capture French and Indian War
April 30, 2015

STATESVILLE, N.C. – The life of a Cherokee warrior, provincial soldier plus military drill and 18th century cooking will fascinate and delight children at Fort Dobbs Summer Camp. Two inaugural sessions will be held the weeks of June 23-26 and July 28-31. Preregistration and a $75 fee is required.

Fort Dobbs hosts field trips and re-enactments regularly. But, for the first time this summer, Fort Dobbs personnel will bring the fun of living history to children ages 8 through 12. While activities will include events such as gardening and hiking, the finale of the four-day camp will be an awesome 18th century inspired water balloon battle that will test newly acquired soldiering skills.

The lives of soldiers, settlers and warriors of the 1750s will combine history with fun. Sessions will run 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. The fee includes tax, a snack, a camp T-shirt and souvenirs.
